Ître: this term (from the Latin exterus) refers to the old shelters, shepherds' huts or temporary alpine chalets built of dry stone.
Research and remains: surveys and excavations in the Sery area have documented the structures of these high-altitude dwellings. They prove very ancient human occupation and pastoral activity, some of it dating back to prehistory (from the Neolithic and Mesolithic).
Enhancement and restoration: the îtres on the Sery alpine pasture have been carefully inventoried and restored. They keep their traditional stone exterior while having been secured to preserve this alpine heritage.
